Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has arrived in New York from Finland to attend the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
The Prime Minister and her entourage arrived at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York at 5:26 pm local time on a VVIP chartered flight of Bangladesh Biman. He was welcomed at the airport by Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Rabab Fatima and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Washington M Shahidul Islam.
Earlier, the Prime Minister left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a BG-1901 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 9:23 am on Friday to attend the 76th session of the General Assembly held at the UN Headquarters in New York. On the same day, Sheikh Hasina arrived at Helsinki Vantaa International Airport in Finland at 3:37 pm local time.
After stopping in Finland, the Prime Minister flew to New York on Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-1902. After the formalities at the airport in New York, the Prime Minister visited the Lotte New York Palace Hotel during his visit.
Sheikh Hasina will take part in a closed-door meeting on climate change with the participation of heads of state and government at 9:00 am New York time on Monday. On the occasion of the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Prime Minister will plant trees and dedicate a bench in the northern lawn garden of the UN Headquarters at 11:00 am.
At around 12:00 pm, Sheikh Hasina will hold a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel at her residence. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina will have a meeting with the Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Motley at the same place at 3:00 pm. Participate in the program titled Sustainable Development Solutions Network at 4:00 pm.
Sheikh Hasina will take part in the inaugural session of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday (September 21) at 9 am at the General Assembly Hall of the UN Headquarters. The Prime Minister will take part in a roundtable meeting of the US-Bangladesh Business Council at her residence this afternoon.
On Wednesday (September 22) at 11:00 am local time, Sheikh Hasina will take part in a virtual event titled ‘White House Global Covid-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Building Back Better’ from her residence.
The Prime Minister will hold a meeting with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands at 12:00 pm noon. In the afternoon, he will take part in a high-level (virtual) program titled ‘Rohingya Crisis: Sustainable Solutions are Vital’.
The Prime Minister will take part in the event titled ‘Event of Leaders Network on Delivering on the UN Common Agenda: Action to Achieve Equality and Conclusion’ on Thursday (September 23) at 8:00 am.
He will address a video message at the Food Systems Summit as Part of the Decade of Action to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) by 2030, chaired by the UN Secretary-General. At noon, Sheikh Hasina will hold regular meetings with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and Vietnamese President Nguyen Juan Fut at the UN headquarters.
The Prime Minister of Bangladesh will address the 7th session of the UN General Assembly on Friday (September 24) morning local time. This afternoon, Sheikh Hasina will have a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte. He will take part in a virtual civic reception organized by the expatriate Bangladeshi community in the United States at 8 p.m.
Sheikh Hasina will leave New York for Washington on Saturday (September 25) morning. The Prime Minister will stay in the United States till September 29. Sheikh Hasina will leave Washington for Helsinki, Finland on Thursday (September 30) at 5 pm on Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight BG-1904.
The Prime Minister will arrive at Helsinki’s Vantaa International Airport on Friday (October 1) at 8:15 am. The Prime Minister will leave for Dhaka on BG-1905 flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at 10.45 am. He is scheduled to arrive in the country at 10:15 pm on Friday.
