A section of buyers and sellers have rallied in the court premises demanding the release of Russell and his wife. On Tuesday (September 21) morning, they held a human chain at the premises of the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka.
Participants in the human chain said there was no chance of their products and money being returned without Russell’s release. Customers have given Russell time, so why isn’t the court giving time. So they are human chaining in the court premises to demand Russell’s release.
Evali’s customer Aminul Islam, who was present at the human chain, said, “I ordered products worth around Tk 6 lakh.” I still get products worth three lakh rupees. If Russell is not released, there is no possibility of getting it.
Another customer, Salauddin Rabbi, told that he had ordered a motorcycle for 2 lakh. Many more like me have ordered such products. Now where we customers are giving time to Russell, why not give the court time! Like everyone else, this customer hopes that everything will be fine if Russell is released.
They were arrested after conducting a raid on Russell’s Mohammadpur home on the afternoon of September 18. Earlier on Wednesday (September 15) night, a victim named Arif Buck filed a case of embezzlement against Evali CEO Md Russell at Gulshan police station. The case alleges embezzlement and intimidation.
Russell and his wife Shamima Nasrin will be produced in court after a three-day remand in a money laundering case.
