The Prime Minister received the UN SDG Progress Award

The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has awarded the SDG Progress Award to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for moving Bangladesh on the right path in response to a universal call for action to eradicate poverty, protect the world and ensure peace and prosperity for all.

Local time on Monday (September 20) at a press briefing in New York, Foreign Minister. Ake Abdul Momen said, “The Prime Minister accepted the award and said that he was dedicating it to the people of Bangladesh.”

Prominent economist and development strategist Professor Jeffrey D. The SDSN was established in 2012 under the auspices of the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

The goal of this platform is to utilize scientific and technological experts from around the world to strengthen practical solutions for sustainable development.

The host of the event hailed Sheikh Hasina as a ‘Jewel in the Crown of the Day’ and lauded her leadership in carrying out SDG campaign activities even during the global epidemic of coronavirus.

“This award is a testament to SDG’s commitment to achieving its goals,” he said.

The Prime Minister also attended several other international events on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA). He attended an important closed-door meeting of heads of government on climate change, co-hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
