A closed-door meeting of the party’s high command was held to decide on the release of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and her political plan.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul told reporters after a five-hour meeting on Tuesday (September 21).
Earlier in the day, Mirza Fakhrul called upon the leaders and workers to unite.
BNP leaders and activists gathered at the party chairperson’s political office in the capital’s Gulshan. A closed-door meeting of the members of the executive committee with the high command of the party started at 4 pm. The first day of the second phase of the series ended about five hours later.
After the meeting, the BNP secretary general confronted the media. He said the BNP high command is holding a series of meetings to seek the views of the party leaders to decide on Khaleda Zia’s release and subsequent action plan.
The BNP secretary general said the issue of Khaleda Zia’s release has been discussed. The restoration of democracy was discussed, organizational issues were discussed, that was the topic of our discussion.
Before the meeting, the members of the newly formed committee of Krishak Dal greeted Mirza Fakhrul Islam with flowers at the same place on Tuesday afternoon. At this time, he called upon the leaders and workers to prepare for a united movement.
The BNP leaders held the first phase of the three-day organizational meeting from September 14 to 18. Following this, the party will hold periodic meetings with the rest of the members of the executive committee on Wednesday and Thursday.
