Former driver of the Department of Health in a case filed by the ACC on charges of illegal acquisition of assets and concealment of information. The court has ordered to send Abdul Malek’s wife Nargis Begum to jail.
Accused Nargis Begum surrendered in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge KM Imrul Kayes on Thursday (September 23rd) through her lawyer Shahinur Islam and applied for bail. After the hearing, the court denied bail and ordered to send him to jail.
Earlier on February 15, ACC Assistant Director Syed Nazrul Islam filed a case against Abdul Malek and his wife at the Commission’s Integrated District Office, Dhaka-1.
Abdul Malek and his wife Nargis Begum have been accused in the case. They are accused of acquiring immovable and movable assets worth Tk 1 crore 10 lakh 92 thousand 50 which are inconsistent with the known source of income. Husband Abdul Malek directly assisted in the possession of the accused Nargis Begum. The case was filed against them under Section 26 (1) of the ACC Act-2004 and Section 109 of the Penal Code.
On September 20, Judge Rabiul Alam of Dhaka’s Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court sentenced Abdul Malek to 15 years in prison in a case under the Arms Act.
