Work has been completed to set up a corona test lab at Hazrat Shahjala International Airport for UAE expatriates. On September 22, six companies started setting up labs at the airport. The Department of Health Engineering has assisted in building their infrastructure. If there are no errors after the trial today, the labs will be open for use.
On Friday, 6 companies have completed the installation of equipment. To monitor the quality of the lab, IEDCR’s Senior Scientific Officer Dr. The Department of Health formed a five-member committee headed by Sharmin Sultana. In addition, the committee formed to monitor the activities will visit the lab today. If the members of the committee do not find any error in the lab, it will be open for use. The Civil Aviation Authority may then allow the airlines to operate flights at any time.
After a three-month ban, the United Arab Emirates launched transit facilities for passengers from six countries, including Bangladesh, on August 4. However, the condition for entering the country is that within 6 hours of leaving the flight, the airport must have a negative report by checking the corona in the rapid PCR system.
On Friday (September 24) morning, Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Imran Ahmed inspected the progress of setting up a lab at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. He said lab authorities said they would be ready by nightfall. After that the airlines will start the flight.
Earlier, Health Minister Zahid Malek visited the lab at the airport on Thursday evening. At the time, he said, it would be possible to test from the PCR lab by Saturday.
Incidentally, on September 15, the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare approved seven institutions to set up RT-PCR labs for corona testing at airports. Meanwhile, Zainul Haque Sikder Women’s Medical College and Hospital resigned. The other institutions are Stemz Health Care (BD) Limited Dhaka, CSBF Health Center, AMZ Hospital Limited, Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Gulshan Clinic Limited and DMFR Molecular Lab and Diagnostic.
