Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon the expatriate Bangladeshi Americans to invest in the motherland by taking advantage of the huge opportunities provided by her government to attract more investment.
“You Bangladeshi expatriates can invest in Bangladesh along with US citizens,” she said at a press conference after a civic reception hosted by the United States Chapter of the Awami League at the Marriott Hotel at Lagarde Airport.
The Prime Minister answered a number of questions from journalists working in New York at the time.
The Prime Minister told the expatriate Bangladeshis that her government was providing various incentive packages and other benefits to domestic and foreign investors.
He said about 100 economic zones are being set up across the country. Expatriate Bangladeshis and Americans can invest in Bangladesh to benefit from this and expatriates will get more benefits.
The Prime Minister said, “We are giving good opportunities to all. Expatriates are being given more benefits (compared to others). So they can take this opportunity and invest in Bangladesh. ‘
The New York Awami League and its affiliates hosted the reception for the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister arrived in the United States on 19 September via Helsinki to attend the 7th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
