52 arrested in anti-drug operation in the capital

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Crime and Intelligence Division has arrested 52 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in anti-drug operations in different areas of the capital.

As part of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s regular anti-drug drive, they were arrested and drugs were recovered from various police stations in the capital from 6am on Saturday (September 25) to 6am on Sunday (September 26).

Iftekhairul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department, said this on Sunday morning.

He said 4,425 yaba, 563 grams of heroin, 2 kg 300 grams of cannabis and 60 cans of beer were seized from the 52 arrested. The police official also said that 39 cases have been registered against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act.
