56 arrested in anti-drug operation in the capital

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 56 people in an anti-drug operation in the capital.

They were arrested in a raid in different police stations of the capital from 8 am on Monday (September 2) to 6 am on Tuesday (September 2).

Iftekhairul Islam, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the DMP’s media and public relations department, said 5,648 pieces of yaba, 6 grams of heroin, 21 kg and 8 grams of cannabis, nine bottles of phencidyl and 72 cans of beer were seized from them during the operation.

It is learned that 35 cases have been filed against the arrested under the Narcotics Control Act in different police stations of DMP.
