A verdict has been announced in a case of suicide bombing at a police check post at Chittagong Court building. The court sentenced Jabed Iqbal to life imprisonment and fugitive accused Mizan to death.

The verdict was announced by Judge Abdul Halim of the Chittagong Anti-Terrorism Tribunal on Sunday (October 3rd).

The matter has been confirmed by Manoranjan Das, State Counsel of the Chittagong Anti-Terrorism Tribunal.

He said Jabed Iqbal was present in the courtroom at the time of the verdict. Jahidul Islam alias Boma Mizan, who was sentenced to death, is a prisoner in India.

On the morning of November 29, 2005, militants carried out a bomb attack in front of a police checkpost at the Chittagong court building. Police constable Rajib Barua and footballer Shahabuddin died on the spot. Police constables Abu Raihan, Samsul Kabir, Rafiqul Islam, Abdul Majid and 10 others were injured.
