Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming to the press conference for the 76th session of the UN General Assembly and this visit. The Prime Minister will hold a press conference on Monday at 4 pm.
The information was confirmed in the press wing of the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday.
The statement, signed by Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim, said he would attend a press conference after attending the 7th session of the UN General Assembly in New York at 4pm on Monday.
The Prime Minister left Dhaka on a VVIP charter flight of Bangladesh Biman on September 17 to attend the UN General Assembly. He arrived in New York on September 19 after a two-day trip to Helsinki, the capital of Finland.
During the visit, Sheikh Hasina spoke on various programs of the United Nations focusing on epidemics, the impact of climate change and food security.
The General Assembly was inaugurated at the UN headquarters in New York on Monday, the day after its arrival. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh addressed this session on Friday, September 24. That morning, Sheikh Hasina took part in a closed-door meeting on climate change with the participation of heads of state and government.
Later, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he planted a ‘Hani Locust’ sapling in the garden of the UN Headquarters. He also unveiled a bench dedicated to Bangabandhu next to the tree in the UN Garden on the north lawn of the UN headquarters.
Later, Sheikh Hasina attended a virtual event titled ‘Sustainable Development Solutions Network’. There, he received the ‘SDG Progress Award’ in recognition of Bangladesh’s achievements in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The next day, the Prime Minister took part in the inaugural session of the 7th session of the UN General Assembly. That afternoon he attended a roundtable meeting titled ‘US-Bangladesh Business Council’.
On Wednesday, Sheikh Hasina took part in a virtual conference titled ‘White House Global Covid-19 Summit: Ending the Pandemic and Building Back Better’ organized by US President Joe Biden.
During the visit, the Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Salih and Vietnamese President Nguyen Juan Phuk, as well as with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
The Prime Minister will visit Washington DC from September 25 to 30 after attending the UN General Assembly and other events in New York. He left Washington for Dhaka on 30 September. The Prime Minister returned home on Friday night after attending the UN General Assembly.
