A strong earthquake has been felt in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. At least 20 deaths have been reported. The incident took place on Thursday (October 6) morning. The BBC quoted officials as saying.

Disaster management officials in Pakistan say the death toll could rise further, the report said. Pictures spread on social media show people in Quetta taking to the streets after the quake.

Preliminary reports said the quake had a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale. A government official said people had died when the structure collapsed.

Local officials told BBC Urdu that at least 150 people had been injured. Many of them have been sent to hospitals in critical condition. The rescue operation is still going on
