Six people were killed when a bus hit a truck parked at Trishal in Mymensingh. At least 10 people were injured. The names of the dead were not immediately known.
The accident took place at around 3:30 pm on Saturday (October 18) in the Chelerghat area of Trishal on the Dhaka-Mymensingh road.
This information was confirmed by Trishal Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Sumon Chandra Roy.
He said the Dhaka-bound passenger bus lost control and hit the back of a drum truck parked in the Cheel Ghat area of Trishal. This is why the accident happened. All the dead were bus passengers. They were killed on the spot. The injured have been shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for treatment. The death toll could rise further.
Mymensingh Fire Service duty officer Selim Mia said a unit had been sent to the spot after receiving information from locals. Five people died at the scene. Another died at the hospital. Rescue operations are underway.
