7 people were burnt in the blast at Mugda Hospital

Six people have been taken to Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute after an explosion in the ICU of Mugda General Hospital in the capital.

They were taken to the hospital by ambulance at 1.30 pm on Thursday (October 21).

They are Shahina (40), ICU nurse in-charge of the hospital, Monica Perera (40), nurse in-charge of Cath Lab, Rumi Khatun (31), Saidur Rahman (25) who came to the hospital for vaccination, Zahirul Haque Majumder (45), technician and Nazmul, ward boy. Hasan (21) and Omar Farooq (25).

Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute Chief Coordinator. Samanta Lal Sen told the media that 6 burnt and injured people have been brought so far. 4 of them have burns on their bodies and the other 3 have injuries on their bodies. 3 of them have been sent to Dhaka Medical College.

It is learned that the fire broke out in the ICU and Cath Lab on the 6th floor of the hospital around 12:30 pm. Sources said that the fire started from the AC next to the ICU.

Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer of the fire service, said that three units of the fire service went to the spot around 12:30 pm after receiving the news of the fire. Four more units later joined them. A total of 6 units tried to control the fire at 12:57.

“Initially, we did not know the cause of the fire,” he said.
