5 arrested on suspicion of militancy from Keraniganj
       

The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) has arrested five active members of the banned Ansar al-Islam from Dhaka’s Keraniganj. Jihadi books and mobile phones were recovered from them at that time.

They were arrested early Saturday (October 30).

The arrested are Mithun Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Abdus Shukur Sohag, Mohammad Jaber and Mohammad Omar Farooq.
ATU said in a press release that special operations were conducted in the last 24 hours in different parts of the capital on the basis of intelligence information. Five active members of the banned militant group Ansar al-Islam were arrested at the time. Extremist documents and mobiles were recovered from them.

During the preliminary interrogation, the detainees confessed to being involved in militancy and provided important information. Legal action is being taken against the arrested accused.
