UK BNP leader’s brother held for spreading anti-state propaganda

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have detained the brother of a leader of UK unit BNP from Dkashinkhan Police Station area in the city for allegedly spreading anti-state propaganda.

Detained Shah Mahmud is the brother of Mohammad Mainul Islam, assistant publicity secretary of UK BNP, and publicity secretary of London BNP, said a RAB press release.

A team of RAB-1, in a drive, nabbed him from Fayedabad area on Tuesday. They also seized four mobile phone sets, including one with anti-state contents, and Tk 2 lakh worth of fake notes from his possession.

The RAB claimed that during initial questioning, Shah Mahmud confessed that he was an active member of a group involved in anti-state propaganda.

He used to spread false, misleading and defamatory information about the state and important personalities of the state through social media.

Legal action will be taken against him, the press release added.
