47 held in anti-drug drives in city

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in anti-drugs drives have detained 47 people along with drugs from different areas of Dhaka city.

DMP additional deputy commissioner (media and public relations) Hafiz Al Asad said police conducted anti-drugs drives in different areas of the city in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning and arrested them for consuming and selling drugs.

During the drive, 515 Yaba tablets, 48 grams and 295 puria (small packet) of heroin, 16.53 kilograms of hemp and 136 bottles of Phensedyl syrup were recovered from their possessions.

A total of 37 cases were filed with the police stations concerned under the Narcotics Control Act, he added.
