Fire at Nilkhet book market doused

A fire that broke out at Nilkhet Book Market in the capital has been brought under control.

According to witnesses and Fire Service, the fire started at a shop on the second floor of the market around 7.45 pm on Tuesday and spreads the adjacent shops quickly.

Being informed, 10 fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after one-hour efforts, said an assistant director (media cell) of the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.

No casualties were reported.

According to eyewitnesses, books of many shops have been burnt to ashes. Many traders were seen tried to move books to a safe distance to protect them from fire.

The reason behind the fire and damages of it could not be known immediately.
